2013 California State H.S. Coach of the Year

  Former Athletic Director (’93-’98) and Head football Coach (‘98 & ‘99) Ed Croson returned to Chaminade after spending 9 years at Birmingham H.S. His career at Chaminade started in 1989 after coaching at Southern Utah St. University, L.A. Pierce College, Notre Dame H.S. and St. Genevieve H.S. In 2009 Croson took over a Chaminade program that had only won 2 games (on the field) in ‘08. In the five years since his return the eagles played in the quarterfinals in’09 (7-5-0) and the semifinals in ‘10 (11-3-0) and ‘11 (10-3-0). The C.I.F. finals in 2012 (12-2-0) and won the C.I.F & California State title (14-2-0) in 2013. The eagles have been ranked in the top 10 by the Daily News and the C.I.F. every week since September of ‘09 and number 1 on the final poll in 2012 and 2013. The program has won 47 games in the past 4 years.

  In 2000, Croson inherited a Birmingham program that was a combined 3-17 from 1998-99 and had not captured its league title since 1969. The Patriots won their league in 2000 and ’01, ’03, ’06, ‘07 and won Los Angeles City titles in 2002, '04, '06 and '07, finishing the 2007 season in the USA Today Top 20 national rankings and ranked #1 in Southern California by the L.A. Times and Daily News. In the back to back City Championship years '06 & '07 coaches team outscored their playoff opponents by combined score of 336 - 39. Coach was inducted into the Birmingham H.S. Hall of Fame in 2012. Croson and his staff have been selected high school Coach of the Year by the L.A. Times (2000), Daily News (‘02,’04,’13), L.A. City Section (‘01, ‘04, ‘06, ‘07) and the Valley Youth Conference (‘03). In 2007 they won the Schutt Sports U.S.A high school coach of the year for the western region. Croson has been Head Coach for the East vs West H.S. all-stars (‘96, ‘01, ‘08) and assistant coach for the California vs Florida all stars (‘04). He spent the summer of ‘09 in Canton, Ohio coaching team U.S.A. to the gold medal in the I.F.A.F. (19 & under) Jr World Championship. Coach Croson lives with his wife Michele, and daughter Kelsey in Woodland Hills. His son Morey (Valley College Offensive Player of the Year ‘11) plays free safety for Ottawa University in Kansas.

Floyd Peterson - DL

   Coach Peterson coached varsity football at Chaminade from 1989-99 as a defensive line coach. After the football season he filled in as the head JV wrestling coach. In 2000 Coach "P" went to Birmingham HS with coach Croson and they had an immediate effect on the football program. After a great 2000 football season coach Peterson was offered a job at Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri where he became the defensive coordinator, football S.I.D. and the athletic website coordinator. In 2006 he came back to Birmingham and helped the team to two city championships and a national ranking in 2007. Coach Peterson had the opportunity to coach Malik and Marquis Jackson for two years while at Birmingham. Malik now starts for the Denver Bronco's played in last years Super Bowl.
 Back to the Nade in 2009 where Coach "P" coaches our defensive line, runs our strength and conditioning program, does our football website and is the assistant head coach. Hard work paid off with a California State Championship in 2013.
 Coach Peterson's son Kristofor played football at Chaminade and graduated in 1997. He also played at Avila University where he was a four year team captain. Kris now lives in Kansas City, Mo. with his wife Nicole and their four children, Annabella (12), Kolsen (10), Giavanna (8) and Madonna (6).
Kevin Davy - DC


Coach Davy graduated from Moorpark High in 2001 where he lettered in football and baseball.  He coached Junior Varsity football at Moorpark High School from 2003-2008 as the defensive coordinator and head coach.  In the 2007 season, Davy and staff was voted “Coaching Staff of the year” with a perfect 10-0 season. In 2009, he joined Coach Croson at Chaminade as the defensive coordinator and was part of the 2013 CIF and State titles. Coach Davy lives with his wife Jill, and daughter Brinley in Moorpark.

  A 2007 graduate of Birmingham HS in Los Angeles ... A PrepStar All-Region honoree ... Lettered three years for the Patriots under coach Ed Croson ... Led squad to an 11-3 record and the West
Valley League and City Section championships in 2006 ... Named Co-MVP of the West Valley League ... Also named third team all-state as a senior ... Had 45 receptions for 877 yards and eight
scores in 2006 ... Defensively, made 30 total tackles and recorded four interceptions, with two going back for scores ... A dangerous kick returner with a 34.5-yard average, including a 99-yard
touchdown ... Also competed in track, running the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and relay events. Coach Chandler played his collegiate career at UNLV. He earned honorable mention All-MWC out of
the defensive secondary after tying for the league lead in interceptions ... Named 2011 Preseason First Team All-MW by Phil Steele's, Sporting News and Lindy's ... A quick, athletic defender who is
part of an emerging group of Rebel cornerbacks.

Aron Gideon - ST/TE/RB



  Coach Gideon began coaching high school football in 2000 after coaching five years at the Division I collegiate level. He lettered at Bishop Amat High School in football and baseball. He also
entered Amat’s Athletic Hall of Fame after winning the CIF Wrestling Championship as a heavyweight. After graduating in 1988, he attended UCLA where he earned his BA, MA, and Teaching
Credential. Coach Gideon was a captain of the Bruin football team and started 29 games at center. Two years after being named UCLA’s Most Valuable Senior Offensive Player, Gideon joined the
Bruin coaching staff working with the special teams, offensive line, and defensive line. He later coached at St. Mary’s College and CSUN.

At the high school level, Gideon has coached special teams, tight ends, running backs, offensive line, and defensive line. He joined Coach Croson’s staff in 2009, serving as the special teams
coordinator and tight ends coach for the 2013 State Championship team. That staff was named the football staff of the year in California by Cal Hi Sports. Coach Gideon is a Chaminade Social
Studies teacher and director of the Chaminade Eagle Business program (eaglebiz.org). His children Christian (class of 2019) and Faith (class of 2022) attend Chaminade and he is married to his
college sweetheart Laura.
Jerome Riley - REC

  Coach Riley attended Birmingham High in Van Nuys where he played football, played baseball and competed in track…as a SENIOR earned scholar-athlete recognition…was named an all-conference wide receiver…also named MVP of the team’s receiving corps. In 1998 he spent the fall at Moorpark JC, then transferred in the spring to Los Angeles Valley College. In 1999 continued at LA Valley…coached by Ron Ponciano…earned all-conference honors as a wide receiver. Coach Riley then transferred to Compton College in the spring of 2001 and completed his coursework. Coach Riley then went on to play for the Washington State Cougars as a wide receiver. He earned the following weekly team awards: California/Offensive Back/Most Disciplined Offense; MSU/Cougar Claw; Oregon/Cougar Claw. · Joined the Cougars in the fall of 2002 · Caught passes in 10 of 12 games…blanked only against Idaho and Oregon State · Started against Purdue in the Sun Bowl · Over the final six games caught 27 passes · Best game six receptions for 158 yards and two scores at Arizona State, and six for 65 yards against Purdue in the Sun Bowl…had five receptions for 45 yards at Washington…caught four passes against Montana State, then again the next week against Oregon, including one for a TD · Helped make Cougar history when he caught three passes for 124 yards against California - the first time three WSU receives each had over 100 receiving yards in the same game…also had a TD reception against the Bears. Jerome Anthony Riley…born 2/07/80 in Pacoima, Calif…parents Joe and Debra Riley…mother owns a daycare and father is a truck driver…three brothers, Dwayne, Anthony and Dwight…one sister Tyesha…daughter S’Mara Jordan Riley is one-and a half years old…working on a psychology major at WSU.
Milton Knox - RB

  Coach Knox played football at Birmingham High School for coach Ed Croson . Started all 4 years on varsity playing Running back and defensive back ... Parade All-American ... EA Sports second team All-American ... USA Today second team All-American ... Cal-Hi Sports California Player of the Year and All-State first team ... L.A. Daily News Player of the Year ... L.A. Times Back of the Year rushed for 6,695 yards and scored 103 touchdowns in prep career, both City Section records. Played Running Back at UCLA before transferring to Fresno state graduated in spring of 2013 with a degree in history.

   Coach Knox is just returned home after playing football in Europe for the Thonon les Baines Black panthers (France) Where he led the league in rushing with 1,430 yards 12td's and 615 yards receiving and 8td's wining offense player of the year.


Robert Harding - QB

  Coach Harding graduated from James Monroe High school in 1986. Attended the University of Washington as quarterback and punter. Coached in the 2009 East- West All Star game. Coached for the Eric Kramer-Curtis Conway football camp. Currently coaches the quarterbacks for all levels and is in the third year as the offensive coordinator for the JV football team. Coaches for Chaminade Middle school baseball team.
Matt Holly - ST


   Coach Holly is a 1994 graduate of Chaminade College Preparatory.  He played a wide variety of sports including football, baseball, wrestling & track and he graduated with honors.  He went on to play Wide Receiver at the University of San Diego and earned his degree in Business Administration.  He returns for his 8th as a coach at Chaminade.  Besides his varsity position, he will also serves as the ST coordinator for the Freshman staff.  In the past he has served as JV WR coach, Freshman Head Coach and Freshman Offensive Coordinator.  He lives in Chatsworth with his wife, Melissa and his two twin baby boys Hunter & Kyler (future Eagles) and they work in Real Estate specializing in the West Valley  See their ad in this program!

Ryan Monroe - ST

  Coach Monroe is  a Chaminade graduate, class of 2002.  While attending he was a played football, wrestled, track participant, weight lifter, yell leader, and LIFE team member.  For the past three years he has coached at Chaminade,  two years for the freshmen football team as a linebacker coach and one season on the varsity level as an outside linebacker coach.  During these years coach has also been an assistant coach for special teams on the varsity level.  In the winter he coaches wrestling at Chaminade specifically in weight classes 160lbs and up.  When wrestling ends he returns to football as a strength and conditioning coach.  Coach Monroe also assists with the distribution, upkeep, repair, and organization of equipment for football on all levels.  “I am thrilled to be back for another year".
